I have been staying here due to my husband passing away.The motel is being remodeled, and rooms are very clean and beds are comfy. Staff is very nice.
I have read the reviews before coming I looked @ 3 rooms, I'm so glad I came here because, reading the reviews before stop me from coming here so I'm glad I took the necessary steps to come here cuz I won't stay in any other place in this town it's quiet and being , and the staff and The Hired Hands are very nice. Very satisfied with my stay here.

I was very happy with my stay here. I was traveling while recovering from major surgery broken leg, and with my big dog. There were some pros and cons, but the pros far outweighed the cons for my situation. I was on bedrest and barely left this hotel room for 7 days. Summary: Appliances and ADA compliance were all great and people were friendly, but the room needed some minor repairs and the mattress was uncomfortably firm. Pros: - ADA room was awesome! - I really appreciate that the bed was low enough I could easily get up and down to the bed from my walker/wheelchair. - I really appreciate the giant accessible bathroom. There were bars around the toilet so it was easy to use the toilet from my walker wheelchair. - The ADA shower was a highlight. It had a large fold-down cushioned bench so I could sit very comfortably. Hose shower was right at the bench so I could easily wash myself. - WIFI - worked great for me! I was working remotely and had hours of video calls. Wifi worked perfectly the entire time. - Coffee maker, microwave, fridge, all worked great. The fridge had a small freezer compartment that was frozen. - Air conditioner worked great - TV - I didn't turn it on but it was a modern big screen - I am sensitive to noise and the AC and fridge were quiet and didn't bother me at all. Appliance sounds tend to bother me sometimes but the ones in this hotel room were very quiet. - The neighborhood is also quiet and peaceful. In the week I spent there, mostly the only noise was the quiet hum of traffic on the nearby highway, especially around 5pm. The traffic hum was quiet enough that it was actually kind of relaxing. - Dog friendly - the woman who works there full time, I think she's one of the owners, was really friendly to the dog. Also, there are two big grass areas to walk the dog around, with a dumpster right there for dog business. Bring your own bags though. - Friendly - when they saw I had a broken leg the man, who i think is the owner, offered to help out if I needed anything - I accidentally left something in my room when I checked out and they called me right away to let me know. - Smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, and fire alarms looked to be new and in excellent condition - I loved the touch lamp by the bed, so easy to turn on and off, with three dim/bright settings - Blankets, pillows, towels, were all good - Tap water tasted good - Location - very close to pharmacies, restaurants, and grocery stores that my family was able to easily bring me stuff Cons: - The room needed some minor hardware repairs where I was like, why don't they do these things that would cost $5 and 5 minutes? - The bathroom medicine cabinet had 3 shelves, but the shelf pegs were all broken off and the shelves sitting on the bottom, so there was really only 1 shelf... $5, 5 minute repair - Several drawer handles were broken off the dressers and night stands so half the drawers couldn't be used... $5, 5 minute repair - The mattress was pretty uncomfortable. Just too firm. Especially since I was on bedrest, I really wish the mattress had been more soft. I'd give the mattress a score of 6/10.

No wifi. Minimal signal. Love the aesthetics. My room had an old TV in it so it felt like I was back in 1999. ETA: realized this is for the neighboring motel. They own this one too. Mother lode.

We were booking a room from this lodge because it was fitting our budget. We wanted to get a clean room with a clean bathroom for one night. And that's exactly what we got! We also loved how nicely the lodge was remodeled from outside, as well. Even the neon sign looked great at night time (reminded us from many Route 66 beautiful signs). If you're looking for a clean, quiet, and budget-friendly lodge to stay near Placerville, then you should seriously consider staying at the Gold Trail Motor Lodge. My wife and I will definitely stay there again.

Cannot say enough nice things about the owners of the small establishment or what they offered along the lines of hospitality and service. This is not the Ritz-Carlton but for what they have to work with they do well. The building's pretty old but they kept the pain up the rooms not so modern but the carpets nice and the bedding is above the average motel motor Lodge. Let's just say motel 6 could take a lesson from the smaller mom and pop operation. Thank you Don and you're very lovely wife we will definitely be back with our one service dog and our one of no service dog. Lol

This is a great hotel, the owners are strict and fair, the house keeping staff is extremely friendly and thorough cleaning is impressive and appreciated, first time I ever felt the need to tip the maids. They keep the pool open til 10pm too, it's a really good hotel, my kid's and I would return.

I came down from South Lake Tahoe & stayed here for 4 nights. For a $60 per night roadside motel I felt it was satisfactory. The woman in the office was pleasant,the room was clean & the bed was comfy. Aside from being very close to Hwy 50 it was quite at night.
